Solar Eclipse 2017 

We ventured to Salem, Oregon to view the solar eclipse August 21, 2017. It seemed like the best choice for us based on proximity, available accommodations, and potential weather conditions. While the event was much anticipated, the actual sight far exceeded our expectations. There was lots of company for us in a Fred Meyer's parking about a block east of Interstate 5. The lot was full and the crowd was very friendly and excited. 

Super Blue Blood Lunar Eclipse 2018

The lunar eclipse January 31 was spectacular. The Moon appeared to be very large and red. Quite a sight available right from home just before dawn.

Sun Spots 2023

Using a newly acquired 1:1,000,000 neutral density filter (Solar filter), through September I practiced shooting sun spots in preparation for the October 2023 annular solar eclipse. They changed from day to day.

Annular Solar Eclipse 2023

To get into the path of the eclipse we traveled to Winnemucca, Nevada. The location was perfect but the weather was not optimal. You can see at the maximum extent the shot is trough a cloud cover.
